Onsen

Unzen National Park, the first National Park in Japan, has a long history with hot springs, so much so that the word “onsen” was originally pronounced “unzen.” It is said that the first Onsen Ryokan were opened here almost 1300 years ago, and were even frequented by Westerners during the late Edo period.

Unzen's hot springs are sulfuric, meaning the water’s strong acidity has strong sterilizing properties and are effective against skin diseases such as eczema, cuts, acne, and athlete's foot. They also are said to make your skin smooth and beautiful. The waters are also believed to help relieve rheumatism, neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, diabetes, and fatigue.

Each gender has an indoor bath, an open-air bath, sauna, cold bath, and spacious changing room. The baths are luxurious and large, meaning you can fully enjoy the hot springs in peace. Please enjoy the seasonal scenery and the special open-air bath made from rocks.

The beauty of the hot springs is not just soaking in the water. When you visit a hot spring resort, you will experience a variety of encounters with nature, people, and the local culture that will provide pleasant stimulation to your mind and body. Look at the sea and sky, listen to the murmuring of the river... Escape from everyday life and immerse yourself in nature to free your mind and body. Many hot spring areas are blessed with a natural environment, so please take advantage of this effect to improve your health.

Beta waves appear in human brain waves when we are in a state of tension or anxiety, and if this state continues for a long time, it will have a negative impact on our health. On the contrary, alpha waves appear when you are doing something you like or relaxing. There is also data that shows that alpha waves increase after taking a hot spring bath. Taking a bath in an open-air bath further increases the percentage of alpha waves. Bathing outdoors while looking out at nature will give you a precious moment of peace.
