Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan

A luxurious stay woven together by the four seasons of Unzen

★★★★

Unzen was founded by the monk Gyoki about 1,300 years ago, and is historically a sacred mountain and training ground for mountain Buddhism. Later, the area flourished as a popular summer resort for foreigners.

Unzen, the first national park in Japan, is known for its rich nature and its highly medicinal sulfur springs, which have long been a place of healing for people from all walks of life.

Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan has a history of 93 years since its founding, and was newly renovated in 2022.

Enjoy a special stay at this inn.

"Natural scenery comes first"

To allow our guests to enjoy the scenery of Unzen National Park to the fullest and feel the changing seasons up close, every space is open to nature. Design has been carefully considered to minimize viewing obstruction from the windows in the rooms, lobby, dining room, etc. Furthermore, the color tones and lighting within the building have been deliberately subdued, so that the natural scenery can be seen vividly.

"Locality comes first"

Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan actively incorporates products produced locally, so guests can truly enjoy the local charm. Most of the furniture in the building is from Kyushu, the tableware is mainly from Nagasaki Prefecture and Kyushu, and the meals are mostly made with seasonal ingredients from Unzen and the Shimabara Peninsula. The products in the shop are also produced locally.

"When it comes to hot springs, efficacy is the top priority."

In order for their guests to truly enjoy the wonderful benefits of Unzen's sulfuric springs, all of the ryokan’s hot springs are pumped directly from the source, The "Daikyokan Jigoku" hot spring, visible from right outside your window.

The hot spring specialists at Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan are thoroughly familiar with the hot springs and manage them so that their guests can always bathe in the best possible condition. In addition to adjusting the temperature, the baths are cleaned every day during lunch hours.

Please enjoy the "free-flowing" water, which is considered the most ideal way to use hot springs, to your heart's content.
